NON-LEAGUE: Manager Staff leaves Stamford

Manager David Staff has left Stamford AFC.

Stamford AFC have today (September 22) parted company with manager David Staff.

Staff left the club after amicable discussions about the future direction of the club.

The decision follows another poor start to the Evo Stik Northern Premier Division season, highlighted by a 7-1 defeat at Hyde United last night (September 21).

Staff first joined Stamford on loan as a player from Rushden and Diamonds in 1998 and had enjoyed four spells as caretaker manager before he and Wayne Hatswell, then in charge, guided them from the NPL First Division South to the Premier League.

Hatswell moved on that summer and Staff has since led the team into its third successive season at this highly demanding level.

Club chairman Bob Feetham said: “It is the right decision at this time, but it has been enormously difficult to make. I have worked with several managers and none have matched Staffy’s loyalty or integrity. All of us at the club wish him well for the future. He has done a real job for us on more than one occasion - and will no doubt do likewise in any future football venture.”

First team management arrangements will be revealed ahead of Sunday’s (September 27) second qualifying round FA Cup tie at Coleshill.
