Eleven Stamford Striders were in action at the Thurlby 10K on Sunday.
Mark Popple grabbed third place for the club with an impressive time of 37:57, just one second behind the second-placed runner, on the undulating course near Bourne.
John Pike from Newham and Essex Beagles won the race overall in a remarkable 33.49.
Other Stamford Striders who completed the race were: Adrian Fisher (44:46); Ed Fancourt (45:54); Katie Arnold (47:38); David Spooner (51:20); Bill Rayner (51:24); Simon Marvel (51:49); Sarah Northcott (53:47); Andy Potter (53:55); Alan Gray (56:35) and Matthew Swain (1:14:58).
The Stiders are hosting the fourth event of the Peterborough 5k race series tomorrow (Wednesday) at Stamford RFC in Hambleton Road.
The race starts at 7.30pm, £6 entry for unattached runners, £4 for club runners.
