Deeping Rangers advanced in the Hinchingbrooke Cup last night (Tuesday) after they got the better of previously unbeaten AFC Kempston at Hillgrounds Leisure.

Penalties were needed to settle the tie after it finished 1-1 in regular time.

Rangers’ Scott Mooney gave Deeping the lead three minutes before the hour mark, against the Unbeaten United Counties Premier Division’s only unbeaten side.

But Shane Bush levelled with thirteen minutes remaining to take the tie to a shoot-out.

Mooney was on the mark with his penalty for Deeping as were: Scott Coupland, Dan Flack, David Burton-Jones, Luke Avis and Spencer Tinkler to give Deeping the victory, 6-5, on penalties.

A much easier game at home to rock-bottom Premier Division side Huntingdon Town now awaits Rangers in the next round.
