Stamford AFC sign Portuguese winger Rodrigo Silva Goncalves
Manager Graham Drury believes new signing Rodrigo Silva Goncalves will become a real crowd-pleaser at the Zeeco Stadium.
The Portuguese ace has become Stamford's first recruit of the new campaign having already retained the services of Cosmos Matwasa, Tendai Chitiza, Rob Morgan, skipper Sean Wright and James Blunden.
Goncalves impressed in four behind-closed-doors matches for the Daniels following the lifting of the third national lockdown.
And Drury is backing Goncalves to fulfil his potential at the Northern Premier League Midlands Division club.
He said: "Rodrigo played in the four games we had in April and really showed what a talent he is with his pace, eye for a goal and direct running at players. I know he's going to be a crowd-pleaser.
"Rodrigo is a young, hungry player that wants to progress in the game and I really hope that is with this club. He has a bright future and, if he works hard, I am sure he will fulfil it.
"This will add to the squad's fire power and he's so keen to get going. Rodrigo has had a few clubs chasing his signature but he chose Stamford.
"After playing in the four games, he really mixed with the lads who really took to him. I would like to welcome him to the Stamford family and we all look forward to seeing him blossom."
Goncalves progressed through the ranks at Grantham Town and was the first player from their academy scholarship to sign a contract with the Gingerbreads after netting 46 goals in their pathway scheme.
He signed for Wisbech Town in November of last year and has also been part of Peterborough United's futsal squad.
