Dugasse and Packer plunder hat-tricks in emphatic success
Stamford Rugby Club’s Under 15s started off their home fixtures for the season with a convincing 51-10 win against a very resilient and strong Boston team at the weekend.
With several members of the squad out with injuries and a much-changed back line, Stamford settled their early nerves with a brace of tries from the fleet footed Dylan Dugasse.
Boston put up a valiant display of powerful rucks and mauls only to be thwarted by the Stamford forwards who were equal to their power and in particular the front row of Joe Howard, Dan Rambaldi and Tom Stokes impressed.
Three further tries from stand-in fly-half Connor Packer (2) and Will Ramsey saw Stamford go in to half time with a 29-5 lead.
At the start of the second a more determined Boston side saw them push the Stamford back line backwards and they were rewarded with a well deserved second try.
Stamford then dug in their heels and produced a display of free running rugby with man of the match Liam McManus feeding the ball from the scrum to the waiting back line who seemingly went up a gear and continued to push the Boston defence all the way to and over their line with Packer and Dugasse both scoring their hat-tricks.
Not to be outdone the Stamford forwards started to use their height and power to press the Boston pack backwards with Stokes and Aaron Wells both going over to score well deserved tries.
Special mention should go to Stamford's two debutants - Aaron Misimisi and Archie Wallace - who both fitted into the team seamlessly.
Stamford: Howard, Rambaldi, Stokes, Wilson, Criddle, Wallace, Johnson, Wells, McManus, Packer (captain), Birbeck, Bowling, Atkin, Ramsey, Dugasse, Misimisi.
