Natural Bourne Runners to raise money for Don’t Lose Hope and Bourne Lions

A Bourne running club has organised a 24-hour virtual relay to raise funds for two charities.

Natural Bourne Runners has 50 of its members running in one-hour time slots throughout a 24-hour period with the aim of boosting the coffers of Don’t Lose Hope and Bourne Lions.

They will be following Government guidelines with regards to running solo with members of the same household or with one other person while observing social distancing rules.

All swap-overs will be done virtually via the club’s Facebook page.

Most people will be running around the streets of Bourne but some will be taking part in Baston, Thurlby, Colsterworth and Stamford.

The event starts at 8pm on Saturday, June 6, and finishes 24 hours later. All participants are being encouraged to get sponsorship with the money being split equally between the two charities.

Club chairman Stuart Craig commented: “Throughout the Covid-19 crisis, our membership has responded brilliantly, adhering to Government guidelines and taking part in fortnightly challenges competing against themselves and each other.

“Living and exercising in isolation has been tough for some and we wanted to recognise the fantastic work carried out by two local charities by dedicating a challenge to them.

“Hopefully we can gather support from friends and families for this unique event and I’m delighted to see our members from the youngest to the oldest turning out for this fundraising run.”
