Rutland Dead Rabbits secure their first wins

Rutland Dead Rabbits have turned a corner. Last week they won in first round Leicestershire County Cup, beating Thringstone Miners 3-2, and this week they followed that up with an excellent 4-1 against Whaplode Drove in the PDFL Division Four.

Rabbits manager Matt Bosworth said: “We have had a shaky start to our league campaign , but I have a very talented group of local lads and I knew that they would start to give me the performance we have worked so hard in training to achieve.”

Rabbits dominated the match throughout , with an outstanding passing game and closed down the game in the second half after a half time lead with goals from the ever present striker Joe McDonald and free-kick specialist Darren Short.

Man of the match Tane Scott worked tirelessly throughout , and was a constant thorn in the side of the Whaplode defence , culminating in a fantastic jinking run past several defenders to fire home the third. The Rabbits domination continued and Joe McDonald admitted after the game : “I should have had a double hat trick.”

The final goal came from an excellent cross from Gary Rix, only for Bosworth to score with a overhead kick.

Rutland Dead Rabbits would like to thank their generous sponsor Jinky’s Bar for their continued support.
