Uffington started the 2015 Rutland League Division Three season with a commanding seven wicket victory at home to Tilton and Lowesby.

Uffington won the toss and put the visitors in to bat.

Their opener and captain Benjamin Jacobs-Farnsworth fell for a duck, caught by Andrew Ward off the bowling of Ben Jennings to give Uffington a near perfect start to the match.

Anthony voss only stuck around to make 12 before being caught by Dean Cornish off Jennings’ bowling once again and Tilton were in danger of an early collapse but Chris Elliot stuck around to make 63 before being caught lbw by Tom Bentley.

After Jennings’ early success Tom Bentley whipped through the order taking 5-47, with each of Uffington’s bowlers getting at least one wicket as Tilton were all out for 133.

But Uffington’s reply did not start smoothly with opener John Burton going the same was as his counterpart, out for 0, this time by way of lbw from the bowling of Chris Eliott. Cornish hit 17 before being bowled by Anthony Voss but Damien Herrick’s 41* and Tom bentley’s 55* eased uppingham to victory, albeit in the 38th over.

In Division Five Barnack 2nds won at Ramsey by 72 runs.

The visitors won the toss and opted to bat. Christian Bengtson was very unlucky not to get a half century after losing his wicket on 49, caught and bowled by Chris Perkin. But 82 not out from Johnnie Hodgkinson and 51 from Simon Scarborough, who was also caught and bowled by Parkins, saw Barnack to 228-6 at the end of their 45 overs.

Ramsey never really got their reply going, losing their 10th wicket for 156 all out, with opener Jordon Cafferkey’s 28 the top score.

Also in Division Five Wakerley and Barrowden beat Nassington 2nds by five wickets at The Recreation Ground.

Nassington won the toss and chose to bat but could only make 126 before losing their final wicket. Top score was Amish Patel with just 28. Bob White did the damage with the ball taking 4-15.

Wakerley’s opening pair had contrasting afternoons. Steve Chivers made 25 not out after facing 121 balls whereas his partner Jonny White flashed 45 runs in just 38 balls. Both helped deliver victory in their own way.

They reached the target with a little over six overs to spare.

Finally in Division Six Market Deeping 2nds scored a full 20 point win by beating Moulton Harrox 2nds by 64 runs,

Deepings’ Connor Gillett made his first senior ton with 118 to set a target of 217 for the lose of seven wickets.
