Stamford Striders stage latest round of Peterborough 5k Grand Prix Series




Stamford Striders staged the fourth and penultimate round of the Peterborough 5k Grand Prix Series on Wednesday night.

The 3k and 5k races attracted nearly 350 runners to the event which started and finished at Stamford Rugby Club.

Helpston Harriers and Nene Valley Harriers took the top spots in each section of both races.

Aaron Scott was the overall 5k winner in a provisional time of 15mins 32secs with Philippa Taylor the leading lady in 19.12

Harry Hewitt took the plaudits in the junior 3k race after finishing in 9mins 52secs while Elizabeth Eames was the first girl home in 11.36.

It was Scott's second victory from four races while Hewitt's triumph completed a hat-trick of successive wins.

Stamford Striders were strongly represented in both races with Jenson Lewis taking third spot in the 3k race.

The series is run over five events with the final round taking place at Werrington Sports Centre on Wednesday, July 31.
