Talented local skier, Lucy Blackwell, age nine, from West Deeping brought home the under 10 girls’ silver medal from the British Indoor Ski Championships at Manchester’s indoor ski slope, the Chill Factore.

Lucy, who trains locally at Tallington Lakes missed out on gold by a mere 0.01 of a second.

The British Indoor Ski Championship is organised by the sport’s governing bodies of Snowsport England, Wales and Scotland.

The slalom course was set by Carl Ryding, a leading ski coach and the father of Dave Ryding, Britain’s number one slalom skier.

Lucy is now looking forward to spending time over the winter working on her technique on snow, as well as strength and conditioning training.
