Stamford AFC manager David Staff has described his frustration at losing the man he had said was his key signing of the summer.

Last week striker Josh Moreman made a U-turn and has decided to move to Spalding United rather than the Daniels despite having agreed terms with the club earlier in the off-season.

Staff said: “It’s very frustrating as we, like nearly every other non-league club announce signings based on a verbal agreements and agreed terms.

“We cannot register players yet, so we are always liable to competing clubs offering alternative player packages.”

“Greg Smith, David Bell, Jordan Smith, Andy Hall, Dan Clements and Ryan Robbins, who will be fit by end of July, will offer a combination of solutions so we are not short of offensive options.

“I’m clearly disappointed with the situation but it can’t be helped.”

Stamford will start their pre-season schedule later this month.
