Stamford Rugby Club's Warrior camp proves great success

Stamford Rugby Club held their second Women's 'Inner Warrior Camp' at Hambleton Road recently and once again it proved a great success with a large number of women and girls coming along and trying rugby for the first time.

The session, which was led by professional RFU staff, taught participant's key introductory skills and drills for rugby within a non-committal, social and fun environment.

The Warrior Camp, which was one of a large number taking part throughout England, is part of Stamford Rugby's strategy to bring more local women and girls into the game and to turn out regularly for Stamford Ladies teams.

Jo Ragg, Stamford Ladies captain, said: "The latest Warrior Camp showed that there is a desire from local ladies to play rugby and we hope that all of those that came along come back and bring some of their friends, family and work colleagues."

Although regular training has now stopped for the summer there is a 'skills session' taking place at the club at 6.30pm every Monday before the regular 02 Touch Rugby session.
