OUNDLE top the Rutland League following an outstandiing century from South African Leon Le Roux on Sunday.

The Rutland Division One title favourites beat March by 38 runs after Le Roux battered a brilliant 145 that included 17 fours and four sixes in an innings in just 127 balls.

Richard Atherstone added 50 and Mark Hodgson an unbeaten 47 as Oundle powered their way to 287-4 in their 45 overs.

Barnack were also in the runs as they piled up 300-8 at a severely-weakened Market Deeping side.

Imran Khan, Chris Budd and Shahid Mohammed all racked up half centuries, while Andrew Tiplady claimed three wickets for Deeping.

Deeping’s reply finished on 181 at 8.15pm, about three hours after Bourne’s four-wicket defeat at in-form Uppingham was confirmed.

Uppingham have beaten both Oundle and Barnack in recent weeks and looked set for an easy win after skittling Bourne for just 87. Tom Binns (23) offered most resistance, but an inspired opening spell from seamer Charlie Hopkins yielded 5-38 and Uppingham eventually staggered home.

Stamford were crushed at Finedon and Peterborough Town match against Medbourne was cancelled.

Market Overton moved to second in division two with a victory against S&L Corby.
