Deepings Swimming Club compete at Derby's Excel short course open meet





Swimmers from Deepings Swimming Club tested themselves for the first time after the summer break, securing an impressive range of medals, personal bests and county qualifying times at Derby's Excel short course open meet.

There were some really solid swims across the two days, with some tight races and swimmers chasing county and short course regional times.

The team achieved an outstanding set of results to secure one gold, three silvers, a bronze, eight county qualifying times and 11 personal bests.

Team highlights included Charlotte Jenkinson who walked away with a new personal best for the 200m individual medley and brilliant county qualifying time for the 100m individual medley.

James Cash put up a stunning set of results across five races to secure five personal bests, five county qualifying times and a bronze medal for the 50m backstroke.

Noah Skinner swam in three events, achieving a personal best for all three along with a gold and a county qualifying time for the 200m breaststroke, silver and county qualifying time for the 50m breaststroke and for the 50m backstroke.

Olivia King gained silver for the 100m individual medley and a personal best and county qualifying time for the 50m breaststroke.

Penny-Wren Burley and Kendra Greenwood-Covell also put in solid performances for the 50m and 100m freestyle.

Sam Peeroo, Deepings Swimming Club head coach, said: "We had some great swims over the weekend and I'm really proud of the team and how they represented the club in Derby.

"The first meet back after the summer is always a good benchmark for where we are starting this season and I'm delighted to see the team have come back stronger with a high number of personal bests and county qualifying times. This really is testament to the work they have put in since we’ve returned from the summer break."
