Youngster aiming to qualify for British Championships
Morton swimmer Callum Melville has started 2019 in fantastic form.
The 12-year-old, who competes for Grantham Swimming Club, spent the weekend in action at the City Of Leeds New Year Long Course Meet.
He competed in nine events and returned home with a sensational seven gold medals and two silvers.
Callum smashed nine Long Course Club records and six Lincolnshire County records to gain three number one in Great Britain rankings in the 13-year-old age group.
Achievements: 50m Breaststroke - gold 34.34 secs (club and county record, number one in Great Britain); 100m Breaststroke - gold 1min 13.70secs (club and county record, number one in Great Britain); 200m Breaststroke - gold 2mins 43.96secs (club and county record, number two in Great Britain); 50m Freestyle - silver 28.34 secs secs (club and county record, number four in Great Britain); 100m Freestyle - silver 1.02.44 secs secs (club and county record, number seven in Great Britain); 50m Backstroke - gold 33.48secs (club record); 100m Backstroke - gold 1min 10.64secs (club record, number seven in Great Britain); 200m Backstroke - gold 2mins 34.85secs (club record, number 13 in Great Britain); 200m Individual Medley - gold 2mins 25.74secs secs (club and county record, number one in Great Britain).
Callum, who was really pleased with his weekend's achievements, is next in action in a couple of weeks at the Lincolnshire County Championships which starts over five weekends at Grantham Meres.
He will then be swimming in March at the Scottish National Age Groups in Glasgow before taking on the Midland Championships in Corby at the end of April.
His target is to qualify for the British Championships held in Glasgow at the end of July where he will be at the younger end of the 13/14 age group.
