The weather took its toll again on the third round of the Velo Club Rutland midweek time trial series with only five riders tackling the ten miles course from Wymondham to Oakham Enterprise Park and back.

Team PB Performance rider Ed Tarelli went fastest on the night in a time of 24:48 beating the first round winner Tim Pockock to second place who finished in 25:10.

Lawrence Green of I-ride.co.uk was third in 25:15 followed by Elliot Harley 28:01 and Andy Lear 28:20. Round four of the series returns to the 9.5 miles Wymondham circuit on May 25, start time 7pm.

VCR’s Paul Slater continued his time trial comeback by competing in the Bourne Wheelers Open 10 miles time trial last Sunday.

Slater finished in the middle of the field in 26:12

He said: “I am extremely happy with my time. I rode the same course at Easter in the Sleaford 10 in 27:55 so to take almost two minutes off my time for the distance is a massive step in the right direction.”

“If I continue to make this sort of progress I should be somewhere near my best very soon.”
