Rob Taylor scores an unbeaten double century for Oakham Cricket Club





A sensational double century from Rob Taylor helped take Oakham to an emphatic Leicestershire League victory on Saturday.

Taylor totalled 219 not out as Oakham surged to a 152-run success over Langtons at the Lime Kilns.

He came to the crease with Oakham having lost their first two wickets with no runs on the board and the Rutlanders then slipped to 44-5.

However, Taylor and Devarsh Shah shared a 164-run stand for the sixth wicket to put Oakham in control of the contest.

Shah struck 64 before departing as Taylor was joined by Ryan Lewis who added 15 in a 107-run stand for the next wicket.

Taylor thumped 25 fours and nine sixes in his 180-ball innings as Oakham made a daunting 339-7 from 50 overs.

His exploits were not finished there as he took a tidy 2-27 from six overs before Charlie Baker and Joe Johnson ripped through the rest of the Langtons order.

Johnson took 4-35 from 8.5 overs while Baker's 10-over stint returned 3-41 as Langtons were bowled out for 187.

Uppingham have dropped down to ninth place in Division One after a nine-wicket loss at Egerton Park.

Openers Jamie Dumford (49) and George Morley (43) enjoyed a 105-run stand for the first wicket but Uppingham then collapsed to 141 all out.

Charlie Cox made an early breakthrough in the Egerton reply but the hosts cruised to victory in the 22nd over.

Ketton Sports secured a 100-run win over Kibworth in Division Four East after dismissing their visitors for 116.

Raiffe Headley hit a century as Oakham 2nds were 67-run winners over Sileby Town 3rds in the same division.

Headley smashed 13 fours and a six in his 106 as Oakham were bowled out for 219 after batting first.

Dave Falconer then finished with 4-53 while Ben Southern claimed 3-22 as Sileby were bowled out for 152 in reply.

Market Overton suffered a narrow one-run defeat against Dunton Bassett in Division Five East while Uppingham 2nds lost to Houghton & Thurnby by five wickets in Division Six East.

Will Joyce (23), Charlie Burgess (21) and Will Rossiter (20) top-scored as Uppingham were bowled out for 125.

Harry Wade and William Hioms both took two wickets in reply but Houghton secured the win in the 32nd over.

Wakerley & Barrowden clinched third spot in Division Eight East despite a six-wicket loss at Bharat Sports 3rds in the final game of the season.

Barrowden were bowled out for 76 after being put into bat with Bharat needing less than 14 overs to pass their target despite Matt Walker taking two wickets.

Oakham 3rds also finished third in Division Nine East after Leuva Patidar conceded their final fixture of the campaign.

Uppingham 3rds also conceded their match at Houghton & Thurnby 3rds while Market Overton 2nds lost by nine wickets at Rothley Park 3rds.

Tim Wilford made 46 as Marko were bowled out for 77 with Rothley securing the win inside 13 overs.
