Tolethorpe Park entertained Scopwick and Kirkby Green on Sunday and enjoyed an excellent afternoon of cricket.
Tolethorpe were put in on a damp wicket and found runs hard to come by.
However, after losing opener Jonathan Digby for three, Ian Fitch and Theo Gatehouse put on a partnership of 75 before Gatehouse fell for 37. Ian Fitch made 49 and Martyn Davies was not out 21 when the innings ended at 149 for 7.
Scopwick’s reply started in explosive style with Sargeant and Tasker despatching the ball to all parts of the ground and at 89 for 0 off 15 overs looked to have the game sewn-up. However, on a drying pitch, Gatehouse came on bowling left arm over spin and took Tasker’s (21) off stump without playing a shot. Sargeant soon followed lbw for 62 and when Gatehouse took two wickets in successive balls in his next over the collapse was complete. Steve Cook came back on from his opening spell at the other end to take a wicket (8-1-1-23) giving way to Mark Younger who mopped up the tail with figures of 4 for 36. Gatehouse finished with 5 for 14).
Tolethorpe CC have a game next Sunday at home to Camra.
