Oakham bounced back from their first loss in the Leicestershire and Rutland League division three last weekend with a comprehensive seven wicket win.

Oakham won the toss and put Electricity Sports in to bat first. The visitors performed well with the bat and Tony Pridmore (79) and Jamie Bolton (80 not out) took Sports to a considerable 238-7.

Rory Brown took three wickets for 31 runs for Oakham and Shyam Lakhani also took three wickets for a slightly more costly 59 runs.

Despite the decent target set, there was no need for Oakham to worry. Calvin Flowers opened the innings with a big 81 runs which included four sixes before match winner Will Bell took control with a well-struck 100 off 98 balls.

Bhavin Shukla helped Oakham home with an unbeaten 49 to take his side to 264-3 in the 34th over.

The rain saved Oakham Second XI on Saturday as they held on to just secure three points in a losing draw away at Bharat Sports First XI.

The game was shortened to 20 overs each because of the weather but in the end Oakham had to shut up shop and hold on for a draw.

Bharat hit 137-4 but in the shortened time the home side could not bowl out Oakham, who held on for 53-9 to secure the draw.
