Reports from Uppingham Town on the start of their new Peterborough League campaign

Uppingham Town failed to replicate their impressive pre-season form in their Peterborough League Premier Division opener at Eye United on Saturday.

Despite racing into a two-goal lead thanks to a brace from the fit-again Rob Montgomery, their newly-promoted hosts hit back to level before the break and earn a deserved share of the spoils.

Town had gone into the contest after a strong recruitment campaign in pre-season which had seen them secure the services of several higher level players.
