Stamford AFC's 40th anniversary of their FA Vase victory over Guisborough at Wembley Stadium

A strong contingent of the town’s teenage talent had helped set Stamford on their way to Wembley.

Manager Malcolm Hird had been faced with a mass exodus of senior players when he took over the reins at Wothorpe Road.

He turned to a number of the club’s promising stars of the future with Barry Hand, Paddy Lilley, Paul Pepper, Andy Parsons, Chris Sharpe and Mick Strickley being elevated after their development with the Under 18s.
