Transfer comings and goings at Stamford AFC
New Stamford manager Graham Drury is well under way in his rebuilding of the first team.
The manager, who was appointed last week, has already brought in three players and seen five exit the Zeeco.
Drury has called on a man ho knows well, bringing back defender Paul Malone to the Daniels from Corby Town.
Malone played for Stamford before leaving the club for Corby in April 2011, he went on to become their club captain
He rejoined the Daniels at the end of 2014 after parting company with Corby by mutual consent. However the next season he returned to the Steelmen where he again was a senior player in their Evo-Stik Southern Premier League championship winning campaign before he suffered a double leg break and fractured ankle in February.
He is currently working his way back to full fitness after the injury.
The other two additions to the Daniels’ squad are Lincoln City loanees, winger Elliot Hodge and attacking midfielder Andrew Wright who both featured in the club’s 3-1 loss to Frickley Athletic on Saturday.
Leaving Stamford this week are defender Roger Lee, utility player Eddy Samba and centre back Dominic McGarr who have all been released.
New Zealand born defender McGarr signed from Romulus in September 2015 and has been a regular fixture in central defence under sacked manager Andrew Wilson.
Wilson brought in Bermuda international Lee.
Eddy Samba, who has played as a striker, winger and full back, was signed by David Staff in the summer before he left the club. His appearances for the club were fewer than they should have been after he recieved a six game ban for his misconduct after the match against Ashton United when he was shown a red card after the final whistle.
Left back Will Rawdon has joined Shepshed Dynamo on loan and centre back Dalton Bettles has gone out on loan to Northampton Sileby Rangers
Other signings are expected in the coming weeks.
Corby manager Tommy Wright revealed Stamford are keen on signing goalkeeper Steelmen goalkeeper Paul Walker and they have already added Daniel Perry as cover between the sticks.
Enol Ordonez has been wearing the number one shirt in the last two weeks in the absence of the season’s stand out performer Richard Knight.
