Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams made a shock first round exit from the World Trophy in Manchester in the early hours of Friday morning.

Deepings darts ace Adams didn’t get on stage until after midnight before losing a titanic struggle with American Jim Widmayer in a sudden death shoot out.

Widmayer, who was hammered by Adams in the World Championships this year, came through to win 6-5 on legs despite Adams outscoring him comfortably throughout the contest.

Adams hit four 180s and 20 other scores of 100+.
