Women’s County cricket returns to Empingham on Sunday

Following a narrow defeat by The Netherlands last time out at Empingham and a heavy defeat away to Hampshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Women will look for maximum points when they take on Suffolk at Empingham on Sunday.

The Foxes captain, Harriet Leach, who has been in good form with the bat, missed the Netherlands match because of academic exams and will be keen to get back into winning ways to return to the top of the league.

League positions are decided on the average points per match; Derbyshire and Hampshire share top spot with an average of 14 points, followed by Netherlands on 12.2 points with Leicestershire on 12 points.

The 50 over match at Empingham on Sunday starts at 11am and the full range of catering and bar facilities will be available. Admission is free.

Empingham’s first team lost by seven wickets in the Grantham and Melton League Division One on Sunday to Barkby United after finish on 209.
