Stamford will host one of the country’s biggest apple-based events once again this weekend.

The Stamford Community Orchard Group’s Apple Day will take place on Saturday (October 3) at Stamford Arts Centre and will feature the usual panel of experts who will be able to identify apples and give advice on growing the popular fruit.

The group also believes it is one step closer to finding the elusive Stamford Pippin variety.

The East of England Apples and Orchards Project will also be there on the day with many different varieties of English apple.

There will be a tombola and stalls selling apple-related gifts and produce. There will also be fun and games such as pin the maggot on the apple and apple bobbing, for children big and small.
