A BLAZE golden trees around the parkland at Burghley House will set the scene for the country estate’s second annual flower festival.
The colourful finale to this year’s Burghley House season starts tomorrow when visitors can see the spectacular state rooms transformed by floral displays by local flower societies. Each arrangement will reflect the atmosphere of the rooms with their inspiration taken from the painted ceilings, 17th century art or the original purpose of a room, all incorporating an autumn colours theme.
As well as displays within the house, there will also be a special plant sale during Autumn Colours at Burghley which continues until Sunday October 16 (excluding Friday October 14).
The lakeside sculpture garden, fringed by trees in their autumnal foliage, offers visitors a chance to discover contemporary art work in a mix of open space and trees where sculptures are discreetly hidden. These include some dynamic pieces by Julian Wild.Burghley House is open daily, excluding Fridays, until Sunday October 30 from 11am to 4.30pm. Guides will be on hand in all the state rooms.
