Deadline for Stamford poet laureate competition looms

Have your say

THE deadline for entries to become Stamford’s first ever poet laureate is tomorrow (Friday).

The competition was launched to tie in with Verse 2012, a poetry festival launched by the Stamford Arts Centre which is planned for April.

The role is unpaid but the title is intended to be a recognition of talent and a launch pad for a poetry career.

To enter a poem must be submitted by tomorrow on the theme of dreams, which is open to interpretation. Entrants must be aged 18 or over and the poem, which must be original, must take no longer than five minutes to perform.

Entrants must live in a PE9 postcode and need to be available to perform their poem in front of a panel of judges and a live audience on March 30.
