VISITORS to Burghley House and gardens can tread through crispy leaves this weekend to find hidden pumpkins and receive a treat.

There will be free halloween cookies for everyone taking part in fancy dress and winners will get a prize from the resident ghost.

Pumpkins can be found from 11am to 5pm until Sunday and the activity is included in the garden ticket. The house and Gardens of Surprise, including the contemporary Sculpture Garden will be open to the public, until Sunday afternoon when they will close for the winter. Guides will be available to answer question and audio guides both for adults and families are available priced at £2.50. Both last about one hour.

The park, gift shop and restaurant stay open all year round and admission is free, except on event days.
