The annual Rutland County Show will be returning to the county in May for its 183rd year and organisers want you to get involved.

The Rutland Show committee is looking for support from clubs, societies, local producers and individuals to take part in this years show which will be held on May 31 at The Rutland Showground in Oakham.

The committee is looking for budding entertainers to take to the new Rutland ring to entertain the large crowds, along with groups and clubs to take part in the education zone.

The show committee is also looking for more local food and drink producers to exhibit their produce on the day. This year they will be installing a demonstration kitchen in the new Pavilion, so if you are a keen chef who would like to demonstrate your signature dish then they would like to hear from you.

They are also looking for someone to run a homes, produce and craft competition tent.

This year’s Tug of War competition will also be taking place in the main ring. If you would like to take part all you need to do is enter a team of six to eight people.

Last year’s event was the first at the new showground, having previously been held at Burley-on-the-Hill and more than 12,000 people attended the event, which showcases the best the county has to offer in livestock, produce and crafts.

To get involved in this year’s show please contact the show office by e-mailing secretary@rutlandcountyshow.com or telephoning 01572 757110.

Pre-booked discounted tickets for the show can be purchased in advance via the website at www.rutlandcountyshow.com, where there is also more information on the show and its activities.

Tickets are £8 (before May 15), £10 (after May 15). Tickets on the day will be £12.50. Under 14’s are free.
