There’s plenty of events taking place up and down the country this weekend to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

A party in the park will be held for the Queen at Ryhall Meadows Playing Fields on Saturday, from 2 to 4.30pm.

Come and celebrate the royal occasion at this special event being held in the village, free-of-charge.

There will be plenty of fun for all the family, including games, rides, a bar and barbecue, tug of war, a visit from Mole, Toad and Ratty, and of course a big birthday cake.

There will also be a car boot sale.

A number of local groups will also be there on the day and the church bells will ring at 2pm to mark the start of the event, along with a speech from the town crier.

In Thurlby, a right royal tea party is being held at the village’s Lawrance Park on Saturday, between 2 and 5pm, to celebrate the occasion.

There will be children’s red, white and blue fancy dress, crafts, quizzes and an exhibition of royal memorabilia.

There is no charge but there will be provision for anyone to make a donation towards the cost should they wish and any surplus will be give to charity.

The event is sponsored by St Firmin’s Church; The Mothers’ Union; The Methodist Church; The WI and Thurlby Ladies Group.

On Tuesday, Market Deeping’s Young at Heart Club will host a Queen’s Birthday Plate Party. If you wish to come along, call Trisha on 01778 346348.
