Chantry Dance Company brings two original ballets to Grantham and Stamford next month, one based on the life of the genius artist Vincent Van Gogh, and the other on Mozart’s famous serenade ‘Eine Kleine Nachtmusik’.

As part of Chantry Dance Company’s 2015 UK tour programme, both ballets will be performed on stage as a ‘duology’ in Grantham at the Guildhall Arts Centre on September 10 and at Stamford Arts Centre on September 11.

‘Vincent a stranger to himself’ will be performed by professional dancers, who include four aspiring young dancers in the ensemble.

Lauren Coyle, a student of Dance Pointe in Grantham and Holly Marklew, a student of The Allen School of Dance in Boston, are two of these young dancers. Both were selected from amongst 35 other Chantry Dance Academy associates to experience the incredible opportunity of working alongside professionals within the company.

This particular production is based on the life of Van Gogh and pursues the man behind the self-portrait, his relationship with the women he loved, as well as his one true passion - his art.

‘Eine Kleine Nachtmusik’, is set to Mozart’s famous serenade, inviting the audience to create their own interpretation of the dance imagery they are presented with, showing that often there is no right or wrong way of understanding dance.

The ‘duology’ tour is performed by a highly skilled cast. Singer and TV presenter Simon Butteriss said of Chantry’s work: “What a hugely impressive event last night was - amazing.”

Other audience members have been equally delighted, saying “superb”, “pure brilliance” and “Paul Chantry and the Chantry Dance Company... you rock!”

Tickets for the Grantham show can be ordered online at www.guildhallartscentre.com or by telephoning 01476 406158, and for the Stamford show at www.stamfordartscentre.com or by calling 01780 763203.
