A delicious breakfast menu has launched at Stamford’s ASK Italian restaurant and you could be among the first to try it.
The Mercury team recently sampled the pop-up breakfast menu, which launched a fortnight ago and is available at only 10 restaurants nationally - including the Stamford branch in St John’s Street.
Restaurant manager Nicole Deary is delighted Stamford is among the first to try out the new menu, which has a range of choices, and can’t wait to welcome people in to give it a go.
She said: “We are excited to introduce this fantastic breakfast menu to Stamford, and are looking forward to making the most important meal of the day a little more special for our customers.”
To celebrate, Nicole and her team have been out and about in a vibrant sunshine yellow Fiat 500 handing out leaflets and Nicole says it has already proved popular, picking up in particular last weekend.
The launch of the breakfast menu means ASK is opening a little earlier - at 8am, meaning people can pop in and grab a bite to eat before work - or even grab a coffee and pastry on the way in - just £2.50.
The menu, which is served until midday, includes porridge or filled pancakes for a quick bite, to larger dishes such as The Full Italian (Luganica sausage, smoked prosciutto and poached egg on toasted sourdough bread topped with mushrooms, served with diced potatoes and roasted tomato). Eggs can be served poached, with a variety of toppings; baked with pancetta, roasted peppers in a rich tomato sauce; or in a frittata.
There’s even a children’s menu. For the kids, there‘s porridge, fresh fruit with yoghurt, pancakes or eggs.
The drinks list includes a range of great coffees, as well as a selection of teas and fruit juices. Cocktails, including the classic mimosa, are also available.
The menu has been developed with the help of celebrated chef Theo Randall, who keeps a close eye on what ASK Italian is up to every step of the way.
The Stamford team is being supported by ASK’s head of learning and development Sarah Gribbin.
She said: “We’re extremely proud of what we do at ASK and we are always looking for ways to improve.
“Here in Stamford, we have a well-run team, fantastic chefs and a great manager so we thought why not build on that.
“I’d urge everyone in Stamford to come in and give the breakfast a go. What are you waiting for?”
The pop-up breakfast menu is only available for a limited time until October when the chain will review whether it has been a success and whether to keep it at the branches and roll it out further afield.
The Mercury’s head of content Kerry Coupe enjoyed poached eggs on sourdough toast with avocado and chilli, along with a fresh orange juice.
She said: “It was a fresh and healthy meal and the perfect start to a Monday morning before a busy day at the Mercury.”
Chief reporter Jon Sandall tucked into the Full Italian, which he gave the thumbs up. But he also couldn’t resist sampling pancakes filled with bananas and chocolate spread, which he said his two young children would adore.
