Burghley Film Festival returns at the end of the month

Iconic Elizabethan home, Burghley House may once have hosted lords and ladies but soon it will be enthusiastic cinemagoers flocking to the stately grounds.

The outstanding backdrop of Burghley House will play host to five days and nights of spectacular movies that’ll take the audience through a wormhole of many different time periods and places. The festival will begin on Wednesday, July 29 and run until to Sunday August 2.

Launching the fantastic film fest will be a whole day dedicated to ‘Lord of the Rings’ with each of the trilogy lined up one after the other. Each film will require a different ticket, leaving you to pick and choose which film to see or for you very dedicated Tolkein fans, see all three!

The South Gardens in the grounds of the house will be transformed into Middle Earth for that first day of the fest as fans will be encouraged to come in costume - an Orc, Gollum or maybe even Gandalf the Grey!

For the next four days of the festival there will be child friendly movies during the daytime such as ‘Frozen’, ‘Big Hero 6’ and good ol’ ‘Mary Poppins’. However the evening will commence with some more mature films such as ‘Pretty Woman’, ‘The Imitation Game’ and the very funny ‘Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery’.

As well as the non-stop movie marathon, Burghley will be serving local BBQ food, salads and drinks from caterers Absolute Taste. The Orangery Restaurant will also be open as usual. You can also rent one of Burghley’s deck chairs for just £5 per session.

Tickets

There are savings to be made right through until the end of July when on the gate tickets will cost £14 for adults and £7 children.

Book tickets online at www.burghley.co.uk or telephone 01780 752451.
