Free open day at Kendrew Barracks
Kendrew Barracks in Cottesmore, Rutland will be opening its gates to the public on Saturday, offering a great day out for all the family.
A fly past from the Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be just two of the highlights at this free event.
Military units in Leicestershire and Rutland will gather to display a wide range of military kit and equipment including armoured vehicles, weapons and trucks that are used by today’s Armed Forces.
Gates open at 10am and entrance will be free. Free parking will be available on the airfield.
Entertainment will including displays by the military working dogs of 1st Military Working Dog Regiment and music will fill the air when the Band of the Royal Anglian Regiment enter the arena to play a range of modern and traditional military music. Visitors to the barracks will also see farriers from the Defence Animal Centre.
All Army Units from Leicestershire and Rutland as well as RAF and Sea Cadets will be present. A range of military equipment will be on display.
Parents will also be able to compete against their children as they manoeuvre the recovery crane of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. The family dog can also have a go at the Military Working Dogs own agility course.
