The ever popular Deepings Raft Race is back once more and promises to be a ‘splashing’ great day out for all the family - for free!

Taking place on Sunday (August 7), crowds of spectators are set to line the banks of the River Welland for a spectacle which never proves disappointing.

The competitors, who will be donned in their best Marilyn Monroe dress or Rocky Balboa shorts for this year’s theme ‘Movies’, will ‘sail’ down the river in the hope of gaining the best time in order to be crowned Raft Race champions!

As usual there will be much more going on off the river, with a huge array of varied stalls, classic cars and bikes, a funfair, music and dance demonstrations, two ‘bus bars’ and competitions, including prizes for the best fancy dress and lots more...

Timings of the day will be as follows; the raft parade from the Waterton Arms to the start line at 11am, youth race at midday, main race at 1pm, fun race at 1.30pm, ladies race at 1.45pm and pub race at 2pm.

Prizes for the ‘best dressed spectator’ will be presented outside the Boundary at 3.30pm and the trophy presentation in the town centre (in front of Barclays bank) at 4pm.
