As part of Nene Valley Railway’s ‘behind the scenes’ open day on Saturday and Sunday visitors can take a FREE ride.

Just turn up for free admission to see everything that goes on at the railway, plus take the opportunity to grab the great ride through the amazing tunnel all the way to the Riverside Yarwell halt and back in Nene Valley Railway’s vintage Railcar.

There is parking at Wansford, trade stands, free shed tours to see locomotive restoration in progress, free signal box tours, shop, second-hand bookshop and café open.

Free admission to the night-mail museum at Ferry Meadows Station site and more, taking place from 10am until 4pm.

Or jump aboard the ‘Rutlander’ Train at Rocks By Rail in Cottesmore this Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.

Steam will fill the station with the return of this popular ‘Rutlander’ train service. Pay once and ride all day in one of two passenger brake vans.

The trip will take you from the platform and along the former minerals branch line which once served the sidings of the ironstone quarries in the area.

The Woolsthorpe Workshop is also open for visitors to see progress of ongoing locomotive restorations.

Ticket prices are £8 for adults, £7 for senior citizen’s and £5 for children.
