A BAND wants its fans to choose its new name.

Stamford rockers BlackHawkDown are rebranding just in time for the launch of their first single, and have launched a competition to find a new moniker.

The band has had a successful year, reaching the regional finals of the Surface Festival for unsigned bands, but wants to distinguish itself from the film it shares its name with.

Guitarist Lee Daffern said: “After a rollercoaster year we are now looking to rebrand to coincide with our first bona fide single launch in December.

“We want our fans and local music lovers to help us find the perfect name.”

The person who picks the winning name will receive £50, a signed copy of the single on release, a credit on future releases, a t-shirt and free entry to all future gigs.

The competition is open until November 13. To enter and listen to the band, visit their Facebook page at and click on the “Competition” tab.
