Have your say

GRETTON Music Festival promises a full programme of entertainment to suit all tastes this weekend.

Spanning four days and featuring 13 events, plus a buskers’ pitch, this year’s festival has the largest range of musical talent ever assembled in the village.

Local musicians and dancers will perform alongside top professionals with musical styles ranging from hymns to U2, the ukulele to opera and Peruvian melodies from the Andes.

Simon Mayor and Hilary James will perform virtuoso mandolin, elegant vocals, guitar and fiddle wizardry in a stage show that ranges from witty to hilarious on Saturday at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 (£8) from Gretton Post Office.

Welsh operatic baritone Mark Evans will join the line-up of national and international opera soloists for a concert introduced by Martin McEvoy in St James’ Church, Gretton, on Sunday at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available from Gretton Post Office or 01536 770330.

The festival opens tomorrow and runs until Monday.
