PETERBOROUGH Cathedral will celebrate the essence of Englishness tonight with a concert by the Central Band of the Royal Air Force.

The programme will include music by celebrated English composers including Walton (Crown Imperial), Elgar (Nimrod), Arnold (English Dances) and Holst (The Planets) as well as more contemporary pieces.

The band will be conducted by the RAF’s principal of music, Wing Commander Duncan Stubbs and to enhance the evening and bring the musical story to life will be BBC That’s Life presenter and BBC Broadcaster Howard Leader, who will act as compere.

The performance is at 7.30pm and tickets cost £16 and £12 from the Cathedral box office or 0800 1071940.
