The Dead Ringers bring a tribute to The Stranglers to Stamford
A band playing tribute to punk legends The Stranglers will play their debut gig in Stamford this weekend.
The Dead Ringers will play at The Voodoo Lounge on Friday, May 22.
Singer and guitarist Nick Moon, drummer Scott White, bassist Geoff Hayward and keyboard player Geoff Green play in a number of different bands but all share a love of The Stranglers.
Scott said: “Our aim is to faithfully recreate their music and hopefully the excitement of early Stranglers gigs.
“At the moment, we are focusing on the Hugh Cornwell era but that will change as we plan to do something from every album eventually. Plus a few that the band themselves don’t do very often, if at all.”
The Stranglers made their name with hits such as No More Heroes, Peaches and Golden Brown. The band still tours with three of the four original members.
The Dead Ringers will be supported by alternative tribute band The Expletives.
Formed in June 2014, the four members wasted no time in putting together an energetic and feisty set of classic late 1970s new wave and punk songs from the likes of The Jam, The Clash and The Damned.
Doors for Friday’s gig open at 8.30pm. Admission is £5 on the door or £4.50 from www.wegottickets.com.
