Spoken word festival in Stamford on July 23

A SPOKEN word festival featuring international artists and local young people will take place in Mama Liz’s Voodoo Lounge tomorrow.

A spectacular temporary performance zone will be created where writers and performers of all ages are welcome to listen, write or even perform alongside renowned spoken word artists Hannah Jane Walker, Adisa and Byron Vincent.

The daytime events start at midday with a workshop by poet and performer Hannah Jane Walker; at 1pm local band Centre Excuse will entertain then Hannah Jane will be back on stage at 2pm for a performance; wizard of words Adisa will lead a workshop at 3pm and those taking part will be encouraged to write something to perform at the Lyrical Teatime open mic session at 4pm.

The evening performance, which will be the culmination of weeks of work by Stamford Youth Theatre performing alongside Byron and Adisa, starts at 7.15pm.
