Transfer or sale option for Bourne Town Hall
County councillors will decide on Friday whether Bourne Town Hall will become a building owned by a charitable trust or sold on the open market.
Two options put forward by the Bourne Town Hall Trust Management Committee are to be considered at a meeting of all 77 county councillors, with one option for the hall to be passed to a charity or charitable trust “to be utilised for the benefit of the people of Bourne”.
The other option is to sell the hall and give the proceeds to the town for use in and around Bourne.
Coun David Brailsford, chairman of the Bourne Town Hall Trust Management Committee, said: “We are having ongoing, positive conversations with interested parties who have formed a steering group to look at the future use of Bourne Town Hall.
“A charitable purpose for the building is the committee’s preferred option and, although at an early stage, we are supporting the group in taking their ideas forward.
“While discussions are ongoing for the future, we are continuing to meet our duties in ensuring the building is watertight and secure.

“Following the latest inspection of the building, people in Bourne may see some remedial works taking place around the Town Hall in the coming weeks.”
