Video: Sports presenter is back to fly flag for south Lincolnshire
A TV sports presenter who has become the face of this year’s Rugby World Cup has lent his support to encouraging Bourne and Market Deeping to visitors.
John Inverdale has gone in front of the cameras to help attract businesses to both towns as part of a new campaign by South Kesteven District Council.
A new series of films were recorded by Mr Inverdale on Tuesday and Wednesday, in-between hosting England’s crucial matches against Wales and Australia at Twickenham.
Steve Ingram, the district council’s strategic director for development and growth, said: “We are keen to give investors an updated picture on our towns’ real plus points as part of our priority to help grow the economy.
“Bourne’s connections with Formula One motor racing through Raymond Mays, British Racing Motors (BRM) and English Racing Automobiles, along with the Deepings’ strong business base through Northfields Industrial Estate and the Eventus Business and Innovation Centre, will be focused on during the films.
“We have also highlighted both towns’ quality of life and excellent travel links, independent businesses and national retailers, asking them why they have chosen to do business here.”
The new films will replace ones from 2013 which were made as part of the district council’s Destination SK (South Kesteven) campaign.
Mr Inverdale started his journalism career in Lincolnshire as a newspaper reporter in 1980, moving to regional radio two years later and television in 1990.
Speaking about his career in 2010, Mr Inverdale said: “You have to get names right, which often when covering international sporting events is no easy task. you have to get match timing right, you have to be accurate and you have to be quick - but it can be done.”
The videos can now be seen on the South Kesteven District Council YouTube channel.
