With stunning music and talented local performers - A Chorus Line comes to The Cresset, in Peterborough on Wednesday.

A Chorus Line is set around a chorus audition for a Broadway musical. It tells of the achingly poignant ambitions of professional Broadway gypsies to land a job in the show, and is a powerful metaphor for all human aspiration.

Memorable musical numbers include I Can Do That, At the Ballet, Dance: Ten; Looks: Three, The Music and the Mirror, What I Did for Love, One (Singular Sensation) and I Hope I Get It.

It is a brilliantly complex fusion of dance, song and compellingly authentic drama.

The cast of 31 are all talented musical theatre performers who are studying at Wildcats Post 16 Academy in Stamford.

As part of their BTEC Extended Diploma the cast have been working hard over the past months developing the show.

The dance numbers are choreographed by Vince Williams - who has worked with a number of high profile performers and shows including Girls Aloud, the cast of EastEnders and the film Nativity 3.

The show is directed by Megan Kelly and Kelly-Ann Gordon, with Adam Pallister taking on the role of Musical Director.

Kelly-Ann Gordon, Post 16 Academy Course Co-Ordinator said: “A Chorus Line is a musical that is based on the audition process for a Broadway show, constructed from real life stories and set to music.

“The story tells of the rigour and determination needed to make it in a Broadway show through the eyes of in the individuals themselves.

“ The students have worked incredibly hard during the rehearsal process and are looking forward to showcasing their work.”

For tickets (£15, concs £12.50), call the Cresset box office on 01733 265705.
